IG STAR BLACK SILICONE 280ML is a one-component silicone sealant that cures upon exposure to atmospheric moisture to form a flexible elastomeric seal. The black silicone provides a durable, waterproof bond that can accommodate normal thermal and structural movement in joints and edges. Silicone sealants are typically moisture-activated and form a resilient barrier once cured.
Material Quality, Durability and Environmental Performance
Black silicone sealants generally offer strong adhesion to non-porous surfaces such as metal, glass, ceramics, and painted surfaces. They are weather-resistant, offering UV and moisture resistance once fully cured, making them suitable for both indoor and sheltered outdoor applications in Kenyan climates.
Installation, Handling and Compatibility
Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free of dust, grease, and loose particles before application. Cut the cartridge nozzle to the desired bead size, insert into a standard caulking gun, and apply an even bead of sealant into the joint or gap. Tool the sealant bead within its skin time for a neat, smooth finish. Allow full cure before exposing to water or stress.
This silicone generally bonds well to metal, glass, tiles, ceramics, and most painted surfaces. It is not recommended for use on polyethylene, polypropylene, or very porous surfaces without prior testing for adhesion.
