What This Product Is and How It Works

KNICKER THREAD SEALING TAPE is a thin, flexible PTFE (Teflon) tape used to seal threaded pipe connections. When wrapped around male threaded fittings, the tape fills microscopic gaps between the threads and prevents leaks of liquids or gases. It also acts as a thread lubricant, making assembly and disassembly easier without corrosion or galling.

Its non-adhesive nature means it does not stick to surfaces itself; instead it conforms to thread profiles and compresses into the threads as fittings are tightened, creating a reliable and durable seal.

Material Quality, Durability and Environmental Performance

Made from expanded PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), KNICKER THREAD SEALING TAPE offers excellent chemical resistance and stability across a broad temperature range typical of service conditions in plumbing and mechanical systems. It resists water, gas, oils, acids, and most industrial chemicals, and remains stable under normal hot and cold temperatures encountered in Kenyan domestic and commercial piping.

PTFE material is inert and does not degrade or rot, ensuring long-term performance, and it does not absorb moisture or promote corrosion of metal fittings.

Installation, Handling and Compatibility

To use, clean the male threaded fitting to remove dirt, grease, or debris, then wrap the KNICKER THREAD SEALING TAPE clockwise (direction of thread tightening) around the threads 3–6 times, pressing the tape into the grooves to conform. Screw the female fitting onto the taped male threads; the tape will compress and fill gaps to form a watertight seal.

The tape is compatible with metal pipes (steel, brass, copper), PVC and plastic fittings, and most threaded plumbing and pneumatic systems. No special tools are needed for installation.
