Akfix Universal Black Silicone 1100E 280GM is a general‑purpose silicone sealant that cures by reacting with atmospheric moisture to form a flexible elastomeric seal. The acetoxy (vinegar‑smelling) curing process enables strong adhesion to common non‑porous surfaces such as glass, metal, and ceramic. Once cured, the sealant remains elastic and retains its sealing performance under normal movement and temperature variation.
Material Quality, Durability and Environmental Performance
This sealant remains permanently elastic after curing, resisting ageing, cracking, and discolouration over time. It withstands exposure to detergents, cleaning agents, and many chemicals typically present in household and construction environments. Its weather‑resistant formulation makes it suitable for both indoor and light outdoor sealing tasks in Kenyan conditions.
Installation, Handling and Compatibility
Ensure all joint surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, or loose material before application. Cut the cartridge nozzle to the desired bead size and apply using a standard caulking gun. Smooth the bead within the sealant’s skin time for a neat finish. The silicone adheres well to glass, metal, ceramic, porcelain, and other non‑porous substrates. Avoid use on very porous, oiled, or dusty surfaces without appropriate surface preparation.
