IG Star Clear Structural Silicone IG-500 is a high-strength, neutral-cure silicone sealant designed for structural glazing and demanding sealing applications. It provides durable adhesion, flexibility, and weather resistance for glass, aluminium, and compatible building substrates.
What This Product Is and How It Works
This product is a neutral-cure, structural-grade silicone formulated to bond and seal glazing systems where strength and elasticity are required.
Once cured, it forms a resilient elastomer that accommodates movement while maintaining adhesion, making it suitable for load-bearing glazing joints and perimeter sealing.
Material Quality, Durability and Environmental Performance
Engineered for long-term exposure, IG-500 resists UV radiation, moisture, and temperature variation common in Kenyan climates.
The clear finish maintains visual transparency in glazing assemblies, while the neutral cure helps minimize corrosion risk on sensitive metals and reduces staining on adjacent materials.
Installation, Handling and Compatibility
Applied using a compatible 600 ml sausage-gun applicator to clean, dry, and properly prepared surfaces.
Commonly compatible with glass, anodized aluminium, coated metals, and select plastics used in glazing systems. Surface preparation and joint design should follow glazing best practices. Use appropriate personal protective equipment and allow full cure before loading.
