What This Product Is and How It Works

ASMACO EPOXY STEEL is a two-component structural adhesive consisting of a resin and a hardener that chemically react when mixed. This reaction forms a rigid, high-strength polymer matrix that bonds effectively to steel, cast iron, aluminium, and many engineered surfaces. Once cured, the compound resists impact, vibration, and mechanical stress, making it suitable for repairs that demand structural integrity.

The mixed epoxy can fill gaps, bridge irregular surfaces, and be shaped before cure, allowing for both adhesive and filler uses in metalwork.

Material Quality, Durability and Environmental Performance

The cured epoxy exhibits high compressive and tensile strength with excellent adhesion to metals. It resists oil, water, and common workshop contaminants, providing durable performance in indoor and light outdoor environments typical of Kenyan construction and industrial settings.

While the product resists moderate heat and moisture, extended exposure to UV light or corrosive chemicals may affect long-term performance; appropriate protective coatings are recommended for such exposures.

Installation, Handling and Compatibility

Ensure bonding surfaces are clean, dry, and free from rust, oil, grease, or loose scale. Mechanically abrade steel surfaces (e.g., with abrasive paper or wire brush) to improve adhesion. Mix resin and hardener in the specified ratio (refer to supplier instructions) until uniform in colour. Apply the mixture to the prepared surfaces, clamp or fixture as required, and allow to cure.

Typical handling strength develops within hours; full cure and maximum strength are achieved within 24 hours depending on temperature and mix ratio. Use gloves and eye protection; avoid skin contact and ensure good ventilation during mixing and curing.

ASMACO EPOXY STEEL bonds to steel, cast iron, aluminium, brass, and some rigid plastics. It is not suitable for flexible materials or continuous water immersion unless confirmed by supplier documentation.
